Girl Scouts to Sell Candy, Nuts at Birmingham Kroger

The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan will be selling candy and nuts from 1:30-6 p.m. Nov. 5 and 6 at the Birmingham Kroger.

People may wait all year for girl scout cookies to arrive every winter, but the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan are looking getting in on the fall sales action as area troops begin selling candy and nuts this weekend at the .

"A lot of people don't know we sell candy and nuts in the fall," said Clare Coughlin, product sales director for the girl scouts, in a recent press release. "The Girl Scout year starts in early October and participating in the fall sale is a great way for girls and troops to earn start-up money for their fall and winter activities."

Girl Scout product sales programs help girls develop essential skills, Coughlin said, including decision-making, money management, goal-setting, people skills and ethics.

"By participating in the candy and nut sale in the fall, followed by the cookie sale in the winter, these skills are reinforced and girls learn important skills they will use throughout youth and adulthood," Coughlin said.

Candy and nut products — including chocolates, some hard candies, nut varieties and other treats — can be purchased directly from Girl Scout troops through the region at booths located at major retailers, including Kroger and Walmart, through Nov. 20.
