Get Scared This Halloween With Lineup of Birmingham Events

There's plenty of creepy and spooky activities in and around Birmingham this Halloween for both kids and adults.

Looking to get spooky this Halloween?

Birmingham and the surrounding area has plenty of events lined up this October for those looking to dress up, tell some ghost stories and do some trick-or-treating.

  • When: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21
  • Where: with the road rally taking place throughout Oakland County
  • Cost: $40 per person, $160 per team
  • Why Go: Sponsored by The Uptown Group, the fifth annual Boo Blast Rally features a local road rally and scavenger hunt, as well as an after party to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Community House. The party will include catered food, an open bar, costume contest, live entertainment and giveaways. 

  • When: 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. Oct. 21 and Oct. 28
  • Where: Bowers School Farm at 1219 E. Square Lake Rd. in Bloomfield Hills
  • Cost: $15 (included in the ticket price is admission to two other mazes)
  • Why Go: Besides the Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, Bower's Farm also invites residents to visit the Haunted Maze — if you dare. This maze is not recommended for children under 6. You may not bring lights of any kind into the maze, or any backpacks or purses.

  • When: 3 p.m. Oct. 22
  • Where: Downtown Franklin
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Downtown Franklin will be hosting its second annual Franklinstein Frenzy, featuring a parade followed by trick or treating. Check out the haunted room at Gorback Fine Photography while bobbing for apples, getting your face painted, enjoying the Looney Bill Coffin Races and relaxing by the bonfire.

  • Why Go: The Junior League of Birmingham and the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will be presenting the 18th annual Pumpkin Patch, featuring games for the kids, a costume parade through downtown Birmingham, pumpkin bowling, live performances and lots of healthy snack stations. will be getting in on the fun with and the .

  • Where: Cranbrook Institute of Science at 39221 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Hills
  • Cost: $13
  • Why Go: The Cranbrook Institute of Science will be presenting a creepy, but educational, Halloween experience featuring cockroach races, monster myths, a scavenger hunt and a presentation from Dr. Kelp on his zombie research. Pre-register by Oct. 26 at http://­www.­cranbrook.­edu/­ to guarantee a goodie bag.

  • Cost: $10
  • Why Go: Join the Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers as they present their 4th Annual Monster Mash for Literacy Bash at Dick O' Dow's. There will be a costume contest, an auction and live DJ. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Dominican and Siena Literacy Organizations.

Birmingham does not regulate trick-or-treating hours, but the recommends parents and kids trick or treat between dusk and 9 p.m.
