Fuel Report: Lowest Area Gas Prices Reach $4.23 Monday Morning

Prices across Metro Detroit are falling, but Birmingham is still seeing gas prices hovering near $4.25.

For the first time in weeks, the the average price for a gallon of gas is going down. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Metro Detroit is $4.09 Monday morning, down from $4.15 a week ago.

Analysts tell the Associated Press Monday that gas prices across the country are expected to drop 50 cents by June. Nationwide, average gas prices have jumped 91 cents since January.

However, Birmingham and surrounding areas are still feeling the price squeeze, with the lowest area price coming in at $4.23 for a gallon of regular gas.

Some of the lowest prices in and around Metro Detroit this morning are $3.89 in Warren and Eastpointe and $3.91 in Trenton.
