Fuel Report: Gas Prices Fall After Memorial Day High

Finding you the best gas prices in and around Birmingham.

Memorial Day is over and lucky for us in Birmingham, gas prices are slowly falling.

According to the AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in Metro Detroit Monday morning is $3.69, down from $3.72 a week ago.

That price is still slightly higher than the national average, $3.65, which is down 16 cents Monday from a year ago. Despite the drops, however, this year's gas prices are the third-highest on record for a Memorial Day weekend.

The highest AAA-recorded price was early May 2011, when we were paying $4.24 a gallon.

Some of the lowest gas prices in and around southeastern Michigan can be found in Westland, at $3.52 a gallon, as well as Eastpointe, at $3.49 a gallon.

In and around Birmingham Monday morning, the cheapest price is $3.69 a gallon, found at the Speedway and Citgo stations on Woodward Avenue.
