Feature Photo: Kids Bike Parade Ushers In 2012 Day on the Town

Dozens of bikes filled the streets of downtown Birmingham Saturday morning as part of the Kids Bike Parade.

The 2012 started not with the ringing of a cash register, but with dozens of ringing bicycle bells.

The 2012 Kids Bike Parade began at South Old Woodward and Merrill bright and early Saturday morning, ushering in Birmingham's annual sidewalk sale, Day on the Town.

Day on the Town, which closed downtown Birmingham, lasted from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and featured Birmingham's retail shops and restaurants, live entertainment and a display of classic cars.
