UPDATE: Birmingham, Beverly Hills Issue Snow Emergency Parking Ban

During a snow emergency, it's illegal to park your car on city roads until those roads have been cleared of snow.

Birmingham and Beverly Hills residents: watch where you park your cars today.

The city of Birmingham and the Village of Beverly Hills have issued a snow emergency parking ban Friday morning.

During the ban in both Birmingham and Beverly Hills, it is a civil infraction to park a vehicle, or allow it to remain parked, on any city or village roadway until that road has been cleared of snow.

Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and may be towed. The registered owner of an illegally-parked vehicle will also be responsible for the towing cost.

In fact, Birmingham prohibits parking on any street whenever snow accumulation exceeds four inches, though there are some exceptions for residents who don't have a driveway.

Those who qualify for this exception must register with the Department of Public Services and display an identifying sticker in the rear driver's side window. They are encouraged to park their vehicles as close to the curb as possible.
