Around 400 in Birmingham Without Power Saturday

Crews expected to work through the day and night to restore outage to the 401 in Birmingham and the 42,000 without power in the DTE service network.

High winds are "most likely" the cause of the outage of the more than 400 DTE customers in Birmingham Saturday afternoon, DTE Spokesman John Austerberry said.

Austerberry said that though he didn't have specifics on individual outages, he said that the DTE was reporting 42,000 outages service area-wide, with 7,500 in Oakland County, including the 401 in Birmingham and around 50 more in the neighboring Bloomfield Village.

"I don't have info on an individual outage right now but the big picture is we have 42,000 without power in the service area," he said. "We've returned power to about 5,000 but the wind seems to be creating more outages than we can restore."
