5 Things to Know This Week: School Board Meeting, Filing Deadline

Here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.

  1. : The Birmingham Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the on Merrill Street. On the agenda is discussion of an operating millage renewal proposal of 7.98 mills, to be placed on the Nov. 8 ballot. 
  2. The filing deadline for those looking to run for Birmingham City Commission, school board and board is Tuesday. Petitions may be dropped off between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the 's office.
  3. : The will host its annual golf outing from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday at the . The fee costs $135 per individual golfer, $520 for a group of four.  
  4. Sunny weather all week long: After a weekend of clouds and rain, the week promises to be fair and sunny. According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures Monday through Friday will hover around 80 degrees, while nighttime temperatures will be in the low to mid-60s. There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night and Thursday.

You might want to avoid the late afternoon and evening hours, as car enthusiasts and cruisers plan on packing the avenue all week.
