5 Things To Know This Week: 'Pinocchio' Premiere, Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber Annual Meeting

From 'Pinocchio' at the Village Players to Film-anthropy at the Palladium, here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.

  1. City Commission to meet Monday, School Board Tuesday: The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Birmingham City Hall. Meanwhile, the Birmingham Board of Education is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the district's administrative offices.
  2. Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber annual meeting Thursday: The 65th annual meeting of the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber is scheduled for 8 a.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Athletic Club. During the breakfast, the chamber will honor the Birmingham-Bloomfield Business Person of the Year.
  3. My Son Pinocchio premieres Thursday: The Birmingham Village Players' performance of My Son Pinocchio premieres Thursday at the Village Players playhouse. Show dates are Dec. 6-9 and tickets are $12 for children and $15 for adults. 
  4. Birmingham Speakeasy party Thursday: Birmingham, Underground: A Speakeasy Event Celebrating the Repeal of Prohibition will happen at 8 p.m. this Thursday at Edison's. The party is a fundrasier for the Birmingham Historical Museum and Park.
  5. Film-anthropy Thursday: Metro Times is partnering with the Palladium 12 for the fourth annual Film-anthropy at 6 p.m. Thursday. Receive a free movie ticket in exchange for a donation of three canned goods, with all donations going to the Gleaners Community Food Bank.
