5 Things To Know This Week: Model Train Exhibit Opens, Books and Bites

Here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.

  1. City Commission to meet Monday: The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at . At the meeting, the city commission will nominate among themselves and elect a new mayor and mayor pro tem for the upcoming year.
  2. School board to meet Tuesday: The Birmingham Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the on Merrill Street. On the agenda is a resolution detailing the district's summer tax levy.
  3. : It's time to start thinking about holiday shopping: will put on their their annual holiday gift show from 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Admission to the show costs $6 and while you're there, check out booths from more than 50 vendors.
