5 Things To Know This Week: Menorah Lighting, Wizard of Oz Storytime

Here's what you need to know this week about Birmingham.

  1. : The Birmingham Bloomfield Chai Center will host a menorah lighting in at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The event will include doughnuts and a holiday sing-a-long with noted local musical talent Avy Schreiber.
  2. : The Birmingham Rotary Club will meet Monday at for their weekly lunch at noon. This week, Rob MacGregor from the Detroit Institute of Arts will speak on the DIA's exhibit 'Rembrandt & the Face of Jesus.' The event is free to attend and lunch is $15.
  3. : The will host a special service Wednesday, 'Longest Night, A Service of Light in Tough Times.' The service lasts from 7-8 p.m.
  4. : The will host a special storytime Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The stories will be based on The Wizard of Oz. There will be games available and registration is required through the library's website.
  5. Library board to meet Monday: The board will meet Monday in the library basement. All meetings are taped and aired on Muncipal Channel 15 (Comcast) or Channel 99 (AT&T).
