5 Things To Know This Week: Birmingham Band Concert, ACT Prep Session

Here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.

  1. City Commission to meet Monday: The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at . On the agenda is a resolution authorizing Birmingham to rejoin Woodward Dream Cruise, Inc.
  2. : The Birmingham Concert Band will be performing at 7 p.m. Wednesday in as part of the city's In the Park Concert Series. 
  3. : The Birmingham-based will host its first of five ACT prep sessions beginning Tuesday at 1 p.m. Other sessions are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
  4. : will be hosting a cigar and tequila testing at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The event will feature Got Rocks' new Maduro- and Connecticut-wrapped Bigtaff cigars rolled by JC Newman. Admission is $10 per person and reservations are required.
  5. : Joe Oestreich author of Hitless Wonder: A Life in Minor League Rock & Roll will be reading and performing at the at 7 p.m. Thursday. Hosted by John Lamb, the event is free.
