Financial Firm Says It Pays to be In Michigan

Celebrates 10-year Anniversary of Growth

Rochester, MI - The Athena Financial Group is proud to announce it is celebrating their 10-year anniversary on April 29, 2014. The company will host a celebration at Lino’s Italian Restaurant to mark its success to date.

The Athena Financial Group was started in 2004 when Diane Young left the corporate financial planning world in an effort to provide her clients with a higher level of service. She designed the firm to meet the needs of people who desired not only good service and access to world class solutions, but also education.  Diane began her financial advising career in the New York metropolitan area then came to Michigan as vice president of the Midwest Division of a global financial services company to focus on developing the women’s market and she’s glad she did.

“The last 10 years have been filled with market challenges, financial achievements, rapid growth and new product offerings,” said Diane Young, President and founder of The Athena Financial Group.  “We have evolved steadily and securely, and while we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, we know it is just the beginning.”

In keeping with their mission, the firm promotes several educational workshops throughout the year offering such topics as: Dare to Negotiate; Women supporting Women and Girls; Spend Less than You Earn; Savvy Social Security Planning for Baby Boomers; and Gender Speak: He Said/She Said just to name a few.

Since The Athena Group’s 2004 launch, the company has experienced an impressive year-over-year annual growth rate which awarded Diane “Business Woman of the Year” in 2008 by the Rochester Regional Chamber and caught the attention in 2013 of The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) earning her the “Breakthrough Award” given to individuals who have overcome obstacles or removed obstructions for other women in the workplace.

Diane chose the name Athena because Athena was the goddess of wisdom and protection. Diane felt this was emblematic of what she was trying to achieve.

The firm continues to grow with Richard Ferguson joining in 2011 as an investment advisor, Alice P. Young, CPA  in 2012, and is Senior Tax Manager,  Roger Roller joining in 2013 as an investment advisor, and in 2014, Robert Lively joined as a register representative.  Together, the firm has nearly a 150 years of financial and tax experience.
