Whiz Kid: Style Entrepreneur Ben White Levin is Co-Manager of Revive

Teen is a partner in an expanding Birmingham streetwear boutique.

Each week, Patch spotlights young people in the Birmingham community who are successful, talented and just plain awesome. Today we introduce the latest Whiz Kid:

Ben White Levin

  • Age: 17
  • School: Andover High (Bloomfield Hills)
  • Achievement: This fashion-forward dresser doesn't just wear exclusive items – he helps buy them from manufacturers for , a 5-year-old Birmingham sneaker and street style shop where he's co-manager. Aaron Cohen, the 28-year-old owner, made Levin a partner in the business — though a parent must co-sign legal documents until he turns 18. Both men appear in a new video by Vintage Frames Co. of Montreal, promoting ultra-limited edition sunglasses carried at the West Maple store.
  • Key to awesomeness: Maturity, leading-edge tastes and entrepreneurial drive propel this teen way past Junior Achievement-level early success. With two prominent parents, it's no surprise Levin is propelled by make-it-happen ambition. His dad, Charles Levin, was a Michigan Supreme Court Justice from 1973-96. His mom, Helene White, has been a U.S. Court of Appeals judge since 2008. The young retail manager's second cousins include U.S. Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) and U.S. Rep. Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak).
Revive's partners are remodeling a site opposite the existing store, which will be renamed Revive Street when the 1,800-square-foot new location opens this fall with higher-end fashions from Tokyo and Paris.

Do you know a local young person who deserves applause for volunteer work this summer? Or maybe your daughter's latest project challenges how we think about the environment? Or perhaps athletic achievements are worth sharing. Everyone deserves attention, and we want to tell these stories.

Email nominations to Editor Laura Houser at laura.houser@patch.com, provide the information shown above and include a photo with names and ages. Then, come back each Tuesday for our Whiz Kid spotlight; you never know who's up next.
