Tickets to Jack White’s 2nd Show on Sale Only in Royal Oak, Oak Park

Tickets for the May 24 show at the Scottish Rite Theater at the Masonic Temple are $48 and will go on sale at noon Tuesday at UHF Music and Street Corner Music.

Tickets to a second Jack White concert on May 24 at the Scottish Rite Theater at the Masonic Temple in Detroit will be sold in only two locations Tuesday, at record stores in Royal Oak and Oak Park.

and Street Corner Music are the only two locations that will sell the much-sought-after tickets for the added matinee show.

White was apparently disappointed that many of his fans were unable to get tickets to the May 24 evening performance, according to Scott Hagen, manager of UHF. Tickets sold out quickly when they went on sale last month.

“It sold out in a minute,” said Scott Hagen, manager of UHF. “I tried to get tickets online but couldn’t.” He theorizes tickets were eaten up by software programs so they could be scalped at outrageous prices  – they start at $175 on stubhub.com.

I can tell that we are gonna be friends

So how did UHF get so lucky?

“We buy a lot of records directly from Third Man,” said Hagen. “So we have a good relationship.”

Third Man Records is a label founded by Jack White in Detroit in 2001. Almost all the records on the label have White’s hand involved, either as a producer or performer. The catalogue includes artists such as the White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, The Greenhornes and Loretta Lynn.

“There are something like 140 records in his catalogue,” Hagen said.

In addition to selling tickets on Tuesday, you can pick up White’s new LP, which debuts Tuesday, at UHF for a steal. Blunderbuss will sell for $16.95, $11 under cost – on Tuesday only.

Hagen is still figuring out all the details, such as how many tickets UHF will sell. He believes it will be an even split with Street Corner Music in Oak Park, but can’t be certain. The Scottish Rite Theater has 1,500 seats.

If you want tickets

Before you take off work Tuesday to stand in line, there are some things you should know before you head out the door. There are a lot of rules.

  • There is a two-ticket limit on purchases of the $48 tickets.
  • All sales are cash only.
  • Patrons will not be allowed to line up on-site at UHF or Street Corner Music until 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
  • Tickets are non-transferable and photo ID is required to purchase tickets.
  • Photo ID of the original ticket purchaser will also be required upon entering the show.
  • All ticket sales are final.

I was one of the lucky ones who got tickets to the first show by going down to the Masonic the day they went on sale. Saw the White Stripes play in the Scottish Rite many years ago, it's a great venue.
