New Eddie Merlot's Steakhouse Open Near Birmingham

'Fine dining' option near the Birmingham border is the chain's first restaurant in Michigan.

Business and government officials from around Oakland County recently joined the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce to welcome Eddie Merlot's Steakhouse to Bloomfield Township.

The restaurant, the national chain's first expansion into Michigan, sits at the bottom floor of the office building located at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Big Beaver Road, just inside the township's southern border with Birmingham.

Described as a high-end, fine-dining experience, Eddie Merlot's offers prime-aged steaks and an extensive selection of the finest wines. The company is a division of the Indiana-based Platinum Restaurant
Group, Inc., and currently boasts locations in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Warrenville, Burr Ridge and Lincolnshire, Illinois.

“We are very pleased to open in the Bloomfield Hills area of Metro Detroit," said company founder and President Bill Humphries. "The area has a great mix of business, residential and the perfect blend of clientele.”

Humphries also went out of his way to dispel any misconceptions about the restaurant's atmosphere as an upscale eatery.

“We are not a pretentious steakhouse, we are very approachable," he explained. "Eddie Merlot’s typical guest consists of women in business, baby boomers and up and coming thirtysomethings in dual income households.”

Joe Bauman, President of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, said he had little doubt the restaurant will do well in this area following his experience at the ribbon-cutting event last week.

“We are very happy to welcome Eddie Merlot’s to the community and into the BBC family of member businesses,” he said. “The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the food is sublime. I am confident the restaurant will do very well and is a tremendous addition to the fine dining scene.”

Eddie Merlot's is open for dinner from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 5-9 p.m. on Sunday. Visit the restaurant's website for more information or call 248-712-4095 for reservations.
