Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Birmingham on December 4.

Franchise owners Robert Middleton, Bill Biga, and Carl Chandler will hold a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, December 4 to Sunday, December 8 to support Birmingham Covington School and the Seaholm High School Athletic Booster Club.

The new restaurant, located at 33745 Woodward Avenue, will circulate 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Birmingham Covington School and the Seaholm High School Athletic Booster Club.  Customers must present the fundraising coupon to participate.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country.  Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

”We are very excited to be opening our next Jersey Mike’s Subs on Michigan’s iconic Woodward  Avenue in the wonderful city of Birmingham,” said Middleton. “Our Original Italian sub, the Number 13, is a classic just like the cars that drive in the legendary Woodward Dream Cruise.” Biga added, “We are equally excited to be raising money for Seaholm High School and the Birmingham Covington School.  We look forward to working with the other schools in Birmingham down the road.  It is important to Bob and me that we give back to the communities we serve. This business philosophy is important to us and it is important to the brand.”

This is the fifth Jersey Mike’s location for Middleton, Biga, and Chandler.  In September 2012, they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Shelby Township.  Middleton, Biga, and Chandler are the owners of additional locations in Rochester Hills, Farmington Hills, and Madison Heights. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
