Gift Card Giveaways, Free Gift Wrapping in Wyandotte for Small Business Saturday

The Wyandotte Downtown Development Authority and the Wyandotte Business Association are partnering to promote shopping at Wyandotte’s independently owned shops this holiday season.

Without many big box stores in the city to celebrate Black Friday, you likely won't see any long lines outside any Wyandotte businesses on Thursday night or Friday morning.

But come Saturday morning, local merchants will be abuzz for Small Business Saturday, which encourages holiday shoppers to shop local by patronizing small brick and mortar businesses.

"Small Business Saturday is the day we celebrate the Shop Small movement to drive shoppers to local merchants across the U.S.," the project's Facebook page says.

The Wyandotte Downtown Development Authority and the Wyandotte Business Association are partnering to promote shopping at Wyandotte’s independently owned and operated businesses this holiday season.

“Small Business Saturday in Downtown Wyandotte will be the perfect way for shoppers to kick-off their holiday shopping and support our local independent business owners”, DDA Director Natalie Rankine said.

To encourage downtown shopping on Saturday, there will be free horse and carriage rides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and free trolley rides from 3 to 6 p.m.

Live reindeer will be on hand for photos and petting from 3 to 6 p.m. Strolling musicians and carolers will sing holiday tunes throughout the day.

Complementary gift wrapping will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Box Depot, 3107 Biddle.

Representatives from the Salvation Army will be on hand to accept donations of canned goods. Shoppers who donate food will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win gift cards from Wyandotte businesses.

In addition, the DDA and WBA will be surprising random shoppers with gift cards throughout the day.
