Francesca's Opening in Former Ann Taylor Loft Space

The women's apparel boutique will be opening at 115 S. Old Woodward early next year, making it the ninth location in Michigan.

There will soon be more shopping options in downtown Birmingham, with Wednesday's announcement that Francesca's Collections — a women's apparel and accessories boutique — is officially opening at 115 S. Old Woodward.

The shop, the ninth location in Michigan, will open in spring 2013 in the smaller space at the former Ann Taylor Loft location. Lululemon Athletica will occupy the larger space, with plans to open this November.

"Birmingham is pleased to welcome Francesca's," said City Manager Bob Bruner in a statement. "Francesca's is the kind of quality retailer that fits in well with our outstanding mix of retail boutiques, restaurants, salon and spas."

Francesca's has more than 362 boutiques in 44 states, offering an eclectic assortment of women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, accessories and gifts.

"We look forward to introducing our boutique in the Birmingham community," said Clary Groen, vice president of real estate and construction for Francesca's.

According to John Heiney, director of the Birmingham Principal Shopping District, Francesca's moving in continues a positive year of growth in Birmingham.

"Since January, we have welcomed more than 20 retail and retail-service businesses in downtown Birmingham," Heiney said. "We are looking forward to Francesca's opening in early 2013."

Other Francesca's locations in Michigan include the Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, the Village at Rochester Hills and Laurel Park Place in Livonia.

Yesterday on my street, I saw a tree, on city property, with 'stuff' piled high around the base ofRead More the tree. I tried to tell the two gentlemen there it would eventually kill the tree. 'Not so!' they replied, according to, I believe, their landscaper. They then proceeded to try and placate this nosy gray haired woman. Maybe someone from the city could clue them in??
