What does your business offer?

Barre Bee Fit is a fitness program geared toward obtaining and maintaining a feminine physique. Basing their workouts on the three pillars of cardio, strength training and restoration, the method places focus on both the mental and physical benefits of exercise. Their name challenges the current unrealistic and unhealthy vision of a "Barbie," with the studio's mission to redefine that ideal to a strong and confident "Barre Bee." Instructors encourage women to work their hardest in class to become the best versions of themselves, while also embracing and loving their unique qualities and appreciating all of the amazing things their minds and bodies can do.

What's your most popular product or service?

While we have our classic strength training "Barre Bee" class, we find that clients like to mix up their workouts with our other class types. We offer "Barre Burn" which is strength training in a 95 degree classroom, and "Barre-dio Interval" which is Tabata based training with cardio intervals and active restoration periods.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

Everything we do through our business operates around our mantra, "The Barre Code." We have it displayed proudly as clients first walk in the studio, and aim to have all interactions and decisions aligned with its values.

When was the business founded?

October 2013

How did your business come to be?

Barre Bee Fit was started by two Michigan women in 2010. Jillian Lorenz of Livonia and Ariana Chernin of Ann Arbor opened their first studio in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. In 2013, with five studios under their belt, they began a franchising program. Barre Bee Fit Metro Detroit is owned by two Michigan State University graduates and Dance Team alumna.

Why did you choose the area you did?

Birmingham has the perfect blend of city bustle and community atmosphere. The downtown area was the ideal home for us to be convenient and visible. We are so proud to be in Birmingham and have really enjoyed getting to know our neighbors both personally and professionally.
