Business Briefs: Figo Hands Out a Fiat, Tallulah Picked for TV Spot

Clear Rate Communications moving to town

Clear Rate Communications, an Internet and phone services company, will move into its new home Sept. 1 at 555 S. Old Woodward Ave. The company is relocating from its Southfield offices and signed a five-year leasee for the 7,700-square-foot space.

Waterford resident and cook Steve Herbert was recognized as the Behind the Scenes category winner at the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Recognition of Service Excellence (ROSE) Awards on Aug. 11 at The Fillmore Detroit.

The ROSE Awards is an annual event hosted by the DMCVB to commend front-line hospitality workers throughout the region who deliver outstanding customer service in their industry.

Herbert received a VIP lunch with DMCVB president and CEO Larry Alexander, dinner for two at Texas de Brazil, a crystal award, one dozen red roses and Detroit Tigers tickets.

will be featured on Dining in the D at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on WTVS, Channel 56.

Tallulah was one of 38 restaurants chosen for this 10-week weekly series that showcases independently owned restaurants known for their exceptional food, service, atmosphere and overall experience. It is the only Birmingham restaurant featured in the series.

Lathrup Village resident Lynn Derrick was the winner of a new Fiat 500, announced at salon's "Driven by Style" event Aug. 13 at Troy's Tre Monti Ristorante.

At the event, Figo also presented mobile food rescue organization Forgotten Harvest with more than $3,000, raised by the salon.

Throughout the summer, Figo hosted “FIAT at FIGO on Fridays,” donating 10 percent of salon services and salon products purchased each Friday to Forgotten Harvest to help end hunger in Metro Detroit. The salon also has hosted weekly silent auctions of items donated by local merchants, with all proceeds going to the food rescue organization.
