Bella Piatti opens Thursday

Birmingham's newest bistro, Bella Piatti, officially opens Thursday. Located at 167 Townsend St., the approximately 90-seat bistro (combining indoor and seasonal outdoor seating) will feature a menu from northern Italy, with rustic Tuscan accents. The restaurant is owned by Mindy Vanhellemont, also the owner of , and was . To make a reservation, call 248-494-7110.

Hyde Park Steakhouse reported to be moving into Forte location

The now at 201 S. Old Woodward Ave. will soon have a new tenant, according to a report in Downtown magazine. Hyde Park Steakhouse, a steakhouse chain based in Cleveland, told the magazine they've committed to the location with the building's owner and landlord, Ted Fuller. The restaurant specializes in choice steak dishes and has locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Florida. This would be the chain's first Michigan location.

Zazios offering Chef Table deal to welcome executive chef

In order to welcome ' new executive chef Jamie Lamus, the restaurant at the corner of Maple and Woodward will be offering a four-course Chef's Table dinner for just $45, with optional paired wines for $20. The deal is good only through October.

Metropolitan Tailor moves downtown

has moved from its former Rail District home at 2235 Cole St. to a new location downtown, at 537 S. Old Woodward Ave. The tailor has been in business 17 years and has been owned by Mazen Masry for the last six of those years.

Moran's Flora moves, changes name

, the florist formerly located at 2129 Cole St. has moved a few doors down and changed its name. Now named Moran & Things, the shop re-opened recently at 2245 Cole St. in the Rail District. The new location is bigger, says new owner and Bloomfield Hills resident Mike Conway, at 2,500 square feet. Conway took over, he said, after former owner Rosita Moran retired.
