Proceeds will benefit the the Charles A. Main, M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund of Beaumont Children's Hospital and Beaumont's Pediatric Oncology Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic.

The winter weather in Birmingham has been dreadful of late, but all the more reason to think about a gourmet hot meal in one of downtown's cozy establishments. Particularly when its also for a good cause.

This week marks the beginning of the 9th annual Restaurant Week in Birmingham, the signature winter event sponsored by the Principal Shopping District that draws attention to all of the fine dining the city has to offer. And for a good cause.

During Restaurant Week 2014 (from Jan. 27-31, and Feb. 3-7), chefs from more than 20 Birmingham restaurants create special, three-course menus for lunch and dinner that cost $15 and $30, respectively.

Proceeds will benefit the Charles A. Main, M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund of Beaumont Children's Hospital and Beaumont's Pediatric Oncology Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic. Last year's event raised $4,000 for Forgotten Harvest

“We’re pleased to incorporate such an impactful charity component into this year’s event,” said John Heiney, executive director of Birmingham’s Principal Shopping District. “Whether you work in Birmingham, live here or simply enjoy visiting, there are menu items for everyone with a wide variety of offerings during Restaurant Week.”

New this year, patrons will be able to participate in a silent auction to help the causes, featuring several different gift packages.
