Birmingham Biggby to Host 89X Guest Barista for 'A Season of Goodwill'

Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, 89x and Biggby Coffee locations across Metro Detroit are partnering for A Season of Goodwill.

Someone else will be pouring the coffee at Birmingham's Biggby Coffee on Wednesday, but it's all for a good cause.

From noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Birmingham's Biggby Coffee will play host to guest barista 89X-FM's Sarah Eatherly, who will be serving up coffee and collecting donations for Goodwill Industries.

The project is part of a partnership with 89X and Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit to collect new toys during the "Season of Goodwill" through Dec. 4.

With any donation of a new, unwrapped toy at one of the 29 participating Biggby Coffee locations throughout Metro Detroit, including Birmingham, patrons will receive $1 off any grande or super specialty beverage.

Each day of the campaign, a guest barista from 89X will be serving up coffee at one of the participating locations. All donations and 100 percent of tips earned by guest baristas contribute directly to the success of Goodwill’s annual Santa Shop. “The Santa Shop offers families a chance to actively participate in the holiday season by providing Goodwill program participants the opportunity to shop for gifts for their families at little or no cost," said Lorna Utley, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries.

"We are proud of the community support this initiative receives annually and look forward to another successful year spreading the holiday spirit in Detroit," she added.
