Best Thing We Ate This Week: A Bagel Off the Beaten Path

It's worth the short drive to check out the Turkey Jerkey from the Bagel Factory.

Birmingham is made up of many neighborhoods and though having a walkable downtown, sometimes you need to stretch your legs a bit (or get in the car) to find a lunch that's both hearty, delicious and a little different.

I wandered into the at Lincoln and Adams this week for the first time and was pleased to find the Turkey Jerkey, a sandwich made up of your choice of bagel (or wrap, if you wish to cut down on the carbs), turkey, jalapeno cream cheese, roasted red peppers and red onions. I've already mentioned that and this one was just awesome. Cheesy and hearty, the Turkey Jerkey is also spicy without being too hot. I'm the kind of person who will eat chips and hot salsa for lunch, so I like a little spice. This sandwich filled those needs.

Not to mention the staff at Birmingham's Bagel Factory (they also have locations in Troy and Southfield) was very friendly, didn't act annoyed when I asked last minute to hold the onions and chatted amiably about the repaving of Lincoln. Birmingham residents east of Woodward: you may not have downtown within easy reach, but you definitely have options for delicious dining.

Yesterday on my street, I saw a tree, on city property, with 'stuff' piled high around the base ofRead More the tree. I tried to tell the two gentlemen there it would eventually kill the tree. 'Not so!' they replied, according to, I believe, their landscaper. They then proceeded to try and placate this nosy gray haired woman. Maybe someone from the city could clue them in??
