There's quite a few crime novels and films in this week's batch of arrivals at , but also something for the romantics as well. This week's Library Picks are:

Strategic Moves by Stuart Woods

Strategic Moves is the latest Woods novel to feature Stone Barrington, an attorney working for a prestigious New York firm. Barrington is riding a wave of success at the novel’s start, but things quickly go wrong when an acquaintance is murdered, and Barrington is drawn into international intrigue.

Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Call Me Irresistible revisits characters that will be familiar to any longtime Phillips reader. The novel begins when Lucky Jorik calls off her wedding to former PGA champion Ted Beaudline at the urgings of her friend Meg. Meg’s parents disown her, and she soon finds herself stranded in Wynnete, Texas—Ted’s hometown— where she must find her own way.

Animal Kingdom (DVD)

Animal Kingdom follows Joshua “J” Cody, a seventeen year old who has been forced to move in with his grandmother and criminally-dangerous uncles after his mother dies of a heroin overdose. The movie charts his descent into the world of crime-ridden Melbourne, where the police are as corrupt as the criminals.

Stone (DVD)

This psychological thriller stars Edward Norton as Gerald “Stone” Creeson, a convicted arsonist who is trying to convince his parole officer Jack Marby (Robert DeNiro) that he should receive a reduced sentence. Things quickly become complicated when Stone enlists his wife to seduce Marby in an attempt to influence him.

Takers (DVD)

This film follows a group of criminals who have been able to rob numerous banks without getting caught or leaving clues to their identity. But with a determined detective on their trail, the gang’s plan to pull off one final job is in danger of being foiled.
