Birmingham's youngest thespians will take the stage in early March for the latest production from the Sara Smith Productions Youth Theatre: Seussical Jr!
Starring young actors from Birmingham and West Bloomfield, Seussical Jr! follows the Cat in the Hat as he tells the story of the elephant Horton, who must protect a colony of "Whos" as well as an egg abandoned by Mayzie La Bird.
Based on several works by the popular children's author Dr. Seuss, the play is diercted by Joey Albright with musical direction from Debbie Tedrick.
The show stars Birmingham actors MacKenzie Mollison, who plays the Cat in the Hat, and Carson Peasley, who plays Horton. Gertrude McFuzz, meanwhile, is played by West Bloomfield actor Lilly Johnston.
The show opens at 10:30 a.m. March 2 at The Community House, with additional performances at 1:30 p.m., as well as 2 p.m. and 5 pm. March 3.
Kids floor seating is $10 while general seating is $15. Reserved seating for Friends of The Community House costs $30. Kids under three are free.
All tickets can be purchased at tchserves.org. Online ticket orders will be available at The Community House or at will call the day of the show. Tickets can not be mailed. All proceeds will benefit the Sara Smith Youth Theatre, The Community House's youth theater program.
