Ryan Gosling Casting Actors in Michigan

The actor will be filming "How to Catch a Monster" throughout Metro Detroit beginning in May.

Hollywood hearthrob Ryan Gosling will be in town this spring to direct a film and is casting local actors for several parts.

Gosling will be filming "How to Catch a Monster," starring "Mad Men's" Christina Hendricks, beginning in May in Metro Detroit, according to WXYZ.

This won't be the actor's first movie in Michigan; he filmed "The Ides of March" with George Clooney in 2011 in Clawson. However, it will be Gosling's directorial debut.

"How to Catch a Monster weaves elements of fantasy noir, horror and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while Bones, her 18-yr-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town," explains the film's website. "Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive."

Gosling, who also wrote the script, is seeking actors to play the parts of Bones and two other characters, the website says.
