Private Eye Thrillers New at Baldwin Library

A batch of mysteries has arrived at the library, rounded out by a romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson.

There's a lot of detective work to be had in this week's latest arrivals at . From the latest from Harlan Coben and Kate Atkinson, private detectives and their cases rule the roost this week. This week's Library Picks are:

Live Wire by Harlan Coben

For his latest novel, Coben brings back long time character Myron Bolitar, a sports agent who doubles as a private detective. Live Wire is set in motion when a former client comes to Bolitar to ask for help in finding her husband who has just disappeared. While working that case, Bolitar sees his sister-in-law and his estranged brother — both of who he has not had any contact with in the last sixteen years  — and begins a search for them as well.

Cold Wind by C.J. Box

In Cold Wind, Joe Pickett, a Wyoming game warden, makes a gruesome discovery when he finds the body of his mother-in-law’s fifth husband. Convinced of her innocence, Pickett races to clear her name and find the identity of the real killer.

Started Early, Took My Dog by Kate Atkinson

Started Early, Took My Dog is the fourth Atkinson novel featuring private detective Jackson Brodie. Brodie has been hired by Hope McMasters, who wants to find the identity of her biological parents. This quest takes Brodie to Yorkshire, where more mysteries confront him. 

The Tourist (DVD)

In The Tourist, Angelina Jolie plays Elise, a mysterious woman on the run from French police. On board a train to Venice, she meets Frank (Johnny Depp), an American tourist who becomes unwillingly dragged into one mystery after another with her.

How Do You Know (DVD)

How Do You Know stars Reese Witherspoon as Lisa, a pro-softball player who is dating Matty (Owen Wilson). She soon meets George (Paul Rudd), who just lost his job and girlfriend and is under investigation for tax fraud. Lisa soon finds herself immersed in the middle of a love triangle, with both men competing for her affections.
