Palladium Sold Out for 'Harry Potter' Showings

Uptown Entertainment is now selling tickets to the midnight premiere at the Birmingham 8.

It promises to be a busy night at the , with all 12 theaters sold out for the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

According to Tim Queen, Palladium general manager, the Palladium's 12 theaters sold out Wednesday evening and Uptown Entertainment has begun selling tickets for showings at the down the street.

So far, the Birmingham 8's biggest theater — which seats around 330 people — is 75 percent full and Queen said they expect to fill even more with door sales later tonight.

Queen said he didn't have any predictions for the evening, but thinks it's possible every theater in Birmingham could be full of Potter fans.

The turnout for the last film in the eight-movie saga has already attracted far more movie-goers than the first part in the Deathly Hallows story. , filling five theaters. .

At that time, Queen said because the premiere was on a Thursday and school was still in session, the turnout was low. Summer premieres are always busier, Queen said. For the July 2009 premiere of the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 11 of the Palladium's 12 theaters were packed.

As for problems, Queen said he doesn't expect many. "We've never had any real problems," he said.

The Palladium will begin seating movie-goers at 10 p.m. The Palladium will also be showing part one of Deathly Hallows at 9 p.m. Ushers will be scattered throughout the building, Queen said, to make sure everyone is in the right theater.
