Michigan's Jeff Gutt Takes 2nd Place on 'X Factor'

The 37-year-old said he'll still make music and plans to go on tour.

Michigan's own Jeff Gutt fell short of the top prize Thursday night on the NBC TV show, "The X Factor."

He came in second place to duo Alex & Sierra, who won a $1 million Sony Music recording contract.

Gutt, a single father from Clinton Township, promised his fans that they'll continue to be able to hear his music.

"I've never given up on this dream," he said during Thursday night's telecast before breaking down in tears as his young son, Talon, said that he already considered his dad as his own X Factor — win or lose. "I'm not gonna give up. I'm going to be out there. I'm gonna be on tour. I'm gonna be making records."
