Born in 1956, Marie-Claude Bosc is a French Naive impressionist painter.  As her parents were opposed to an artistic career, she atttended Paris V University where she received a master’s degree in law in 1979 and then attended Sciences Po Paris (School of Political Science) from which she graduated two years later.  She then began a career in the banking sector.

Her professional life did not prevent her from continuing her artistic pursuits, auditing courses in schools of art and frequent participation in summer painting programs.  In 1992, she got married to a Parisian art restorer, Bernard Depretz.  During an extended maternity leaving following the birth of one of her children she decided to return to her first vocation: painting.

Marie-Claude Bosc is a painter fascinated by the charm and lights of her city's old neighborhoods with their back streets, cafes, bistros and gardens. She populates this constantly changing setting with individuals half way between comic book characters and caricatures, sometimes touching and often humorous.

A French Naive artist, but also influenced by Lautrec, Daumier and Dubout, she captures a quintessentially Parisian spirit.
