Why Plant Lilies?

Lilies (lilium) are easy to grow and provide flowers in any garden, landscape, or for pots, cutting and placing a vase or arrangement.  The varieties are endless. Some lilies bloom early spring, others bloom early to late summer. By choosing a combination of early, mid-season, and lateblooming cultivars, you can have lilies in flower from mid June through mid September. These hardy bulbs require only minimal care. Each has the capacity to grow, eventually, into large cluster of flowering stems—some reaching 6+ feet tall. You need not be a master gardener to enjoy lilies. Plant them and enjoy for years to come!

About the Michigan Regional Lily Society:

The Michigan Regional Lily Society (MRLS) is an affiliate of the North American Lily Society. MRLS is dedicated to promoting the culture of the genus Lilium (i.e., lilies) among Michigan gardeners. Each year MRLS sponsors lectures of interest to gardeners. MRLS maintains a lily garden at the Detroit Zoo, schedules tours of local lily gardens and conducts a lily bulbs sale in October, offering a wide variety of lilies, both hybrids and species.  Contact us about membership and up-coming events on our website at http://www.mrls.org/ or K Greenwald, publicity chair at flemenco@yahoo.com
