Planet D Nonet at the Birmingham Historical Museum

The thriving and dynamic neighborhoods of early 20th century Detroit were alive with music that had elements of early swing, R & B, and jump blues, eventually evolving into what we know today as the Motown sound.

This musical heritage will come to life on Sunday, June 24th at the Birmingham Historical Museum & Park, where the Planet D Nonet will perform on the front porch of the museum. Their program, "Paradise Valley Walk," is both a performance and educational experience that highlights Detroit's musical evolution and will take audiences back in time to that vibrant era.

Free to the public. Co-sponsored by the Baldwin Public Library, and partly funded by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs/Michigan Humanities Council.
