Birmingham Gallery Grand Opening

Birmingham Gallery, a contemporary art and frame gallery featuring a mix of sculptures, paintings, and mixed media, announce their grand opening reception to celebrate the of Birmingham’s new premier gallery.

The reception will be held on Saturday June 9, 2012 from 6pm-11pm.

The opening reception will feature the artwork of Detroit artist Tony Roko. Tony has quickly emerged as one of the Motor City’s most sought after artists. Tony is a self taught artist and is considered an innovator. His medium and the application is a direct by-product of working within the Motor city and, as such, supports his ability to recreate the meaning and use of industrial materials that were once exclusive to the body of a car.

This type of ‘re-use’ and re-positioning of materials and concepts is exactly what Detroit, and other post-industrial cities need to allow art and art communities to help shape future urban environments and current culture. Roko’s work can be seen at the Motown Museum, and he has been commissioned by Ford Motor Company and Vitamin Water to create original pieces. His work can also be viewed in the permanent collection throughout the United States.
Tony Roko’s artwork will be on exhibit through July.

The Birmingham Gallery is located at 33772 Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, Michigan. The gallery and full framing services are available Monday through Saturday 10-6pm and by appointment.
