5th Grade Dance Open to the Public

5th graders invited to Joe Cornell party Nov. 22nd; registration open for 2012-2013 6th grade dance program.

Metro Detroit fifth-graders are invited to a free, supervised dance party on Nov. 22nd, sponsored by Joe Cornell Entertainment, which recently opened registration for its 2012-2013 dance program.

As part of the registration process, current 5th-graders can try out the program at a free, supervised, fun community dance on November 22nd at the West Bloomfield Jewish Community Center. All metro Detroit 5th-graders are invited to attend.

Joe Cornell’s annual 5th grade dance party (November 22nd, 7-8:15 p.m., free to the public) is an opportunity to try Joe Cornell’s popular and long-running dance program for 6th graders. The program is a fun way for boys and girls to learn the popular dance steps of today’s parties while subtly teaching etiquette, appropriate interaction and social responsibility.

“In our twelve-week class, we teach kids how to interact with one another gracefully and respectfully while having a great amount of fun,” says Steve Jasgur, president of Joe Cornell Entertainment. “The 5th Grade Dance Party is an opportunity to check it out and register for the next school year – our classes fill up quickly and we want everyone to have ample opportunity to get in on the action.”

The event is open to media and photographers. The 5th grade dance party will take place Tuesday, Nov. 22, 7-8:30 p.m., at the West Bloomfield JCC.

“In preparation for the 7th-grade social scene, our dance program teaches 6th-graders social interaction and social responsibility,” says Becca Schlussel, Joe Cornell Vice-President. “The 5th-grade  dance is the kickoff for that whole process.”

Joe Cornell Entertainment has been teaching middle-schoolers to dance for half a century. Under the sister-brother leadership of Steve Jasgur and Becca Schlussel, the company has expanded its DJ and entertainment offerings to include a new weddings division (www.JoeCornellWeddings.com), an expansion of its popular, annual event-planning EXPO and annual event-planning magazine, Plan IT!, a glossy, full-color party-planning publication (www.planitmagazine.com).
