DIA Downtown: Studying Birds on the Side of a Parking Garage

English artist's painting is one of seven works on display in downtown Birmingham this fall.

A digital reproduction of Study for "Birds" from 1878 by English artist Albert Joseph Moore can be found on the outside of the North Old Woodward Parking Garage. The piece is part of the Detroit Institute of Arts' (DIA) Inside|Out program which takes art reproductions to the streets of suburban Detroit communities.

Here's what the DIA had to say about Study for "Birds":

There's no story here. No symbolism. The picture isn't meant to be about anything. Artist Albert Moore made this image for the sole purpose of being pleasing to look at, a visual escape from the ugly realities of life. He uses serene colors and soft brushstrokes to depict a woman draped in flowing robes, dreamily lost in thought.
