What's Outside The Baldwin Public Library?

Familiar sculpture has a new home outside a downtown Birmingham landmark.

You may have noticed a new look outside the Baldwin Public Library this week. But it shouldn't be unfamiliar to anyone that frequents Shain Park or the city's municipal center in downtown Birmingham.

'Journey Home,' a sculpture that used to occupy the lawn right in front of City Hall, is now greeting passersby and visitors to the library's West Merrill Street entrance.  The move was due to the Pierce Street construction project completed earlier this year.

The artwork, sculpted by Dennis Oppenheim, is on loan to the city as part of the CityScapes 2008 program, according to the city's website.
