Chef Taylor Brockenshire of the Townsend Hotel earned second prize among the professionals that entered the annual Gingerbread Brunch competition to benefit Preservation Bloomfield.
His creation, a colorful house with a steep roof topped with a sitting elf, received multiple bids and was among the favorites of the judges and sellout crowd Friday at Oakland Hillls Country Club in Bloomfield Township.
Chef John Parmentier's pop-up book style interpretation of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' was voted best-in-show for 2013.
Their work and about a dozen others were on display Friday morning in one of the key fundraisers for restoration of the 1832 Barton House.
