Hundreds Still Without Power in Birmingham Area

DTE crews restored power to roughly half of the 300,000 affected by Sunday's storms, but some in the Birmingham area are still in the dark.

Pockets of Birmingham, Bingham Farms and Bloomfield Hills remain without power Tuesday morning, DTE reports

More than 500 Birmingham area residents lost power overnight Sunday into Monday as a result of the high winds and strong thunderstorms that blew through southeast Michigan and ravaged the Midwest.

Hundreds of additional Birmingham residents reported losing power throughout a windy Monday, DTE reported. The largest affected areas appear to be around Quarton Lake and south of Maple Road, where nearly 250 customers lost power, according to the DTE outage map. Roughly 300 more between Lahser and Covington roads are also without power this morning. No restoration times were available as of 5 a.m.

DTE reported that more than 100 crews working 16-hour shifts restored power to roughly half of the 302,000 residents impacted by the storm across southeast Michigan. The storm is the largest DTE experienced this year and is reportedly among the worst in the past decade.
