Feature Photo: Firefighters 'Fill the Boot' For Muscular Dystrophy

Members of the Birmingham Firefighters Association raised $1,700 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association last weekend.

Birmingham firefighter Dave Papandrea and his daughter Gracie ask residents to help "fill the boot" as part of a fundraiser for the Birmingham Firefighters Association (BFFA) last Friday.

According to BFFA president Paul Wells, around seven off-duty firefighters hung out in downtown Birmingham for three hours on Oct. 12, raising $1,700. The funds raised will go toward the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Since 1954, 280,000 International Associations of Firefighters groups have raised $275 million for muscular dystrophy.
