Dream Cruise Snapshot: Figure Skating Team Looking for Donations

Two high school figure skaters were among the cruisers Saturday morning raising money for the 2012-13 season.

It may be a cool day, but there are no ice rinks to be found near the Saturday.

But that doesn't mean the downtown car show, adjacent to the Woodward Dream Cruise, isn't the perfect place to fundraise for the Birmingham unified figure skating team.

junior Morgan Wolfe and senior Alicia Lerner were selling bottled water on South Old Woodward, just south of Merrill, to raise money for the varisty team.

"We'll probably buy new practice pants with what we raise," Lerner said.

The team practices at the on Lincoln, with a season that starts in the fall and wraps up in the spring. According to Lerner, there are 30 girls from both Seaholm and on the team.
