Channel 7 Announces Woodward Dream Cruise Broadcast Plans for Birmingham

The station will set up tents for its live Woodward Dream Cruise broadcasts by the 555 Building

Channel 7 WXYZ, the official station of the Woodward Dream Cruise, plans a 'Tweet-up' along Woodward Avenue during their live broadcast of the annual event from Birmingham on Aug. 17. The social media effort is just part of the station's plans for the show staged from 7-9 p.m. outside the 555 Building.

News anchors Stephen Clark and Carolyn Clifford will host the show, and station personalities JoAnne Purtan, Jeff Vaughn, Glenda Lewis, Alicia Smith, and Vic Faust will provide live coverage throughout the route. Sports Director Tom Leyden will be in a classic convertible cruising live, and reporter  Brad Galli will
provide aerial coverage from Chopper 7, a news release stated.

“The Woodward Dream Cruise presented by Chevrolet is the highlight of the summer for our team,” said Station General Manager Ed Fernandez.

The show will include several features about cruisers and the cars they love, and takes a look at how a new generation of auto enthusiasts is carrying on the cruising tradition. In addition, Kevin Pereira, host of the television game show “Let’s Ask America,” will be in Birmingham to play the game with Dream Cruise visitors, and audition future contestants.
