Birmingham Plans Community-wide Garage Sale

If you didn't get the deals you wanted at Day on the Town last week, you might want to try a different shopping experience this weekend as Birmingham hosts a community-wide garage sale.

From 8 a.m. to noon, bargain hunters are welcome to scour the dozen or so tables set up by garage sale 'vendors' from in and around Birmingham at the Birmingham Ice Sports Arena. The event itself is free. 

City officials said Birmingham used to host a community garage sale several years ago but stopped, leaving neighborhoods or individual homeowners to organize on their own. Public Services Director Lauren Wood said the event is way to showcase the arena during the offseason while providing a service to residents.

“The Birmingham Ice Arena is the perfect venue for an event like this,” Wood said. “We hope sellers and shoppers alike will enjoy the convenience of a large sale all in one place.”
