Birmingham Residents 'Love Thy Neighbor'

We asked and you answered who in your neighborhood made a difference during the recent snowstorm and beyond

Inspiration for stories to tell on Birmingham Patch comes from many different places, and the some of the best ideas come from you, our readers.

During last week's snow storm, reader Suzanne Shields proposed writing about people who go above and beyond the traditional when it comes to neighborly behavior, particularly during storms or community emergencies on the Birmingham Patch Facebook page. So we did, and several readers shared great anecdotes and a few kudos for neighbors who consistently make a difference.

"This is my 5th winter on Ruffner, and my next door neighbors Karl and Cindy are just the best!," wrote Margarita Davydova"With a snow blower or a shovel, they never miss passing by my sidewalk and driveway. This weekend is no exception: came home to a clean block of two-three driveways and saw Karl shoveling an older couple's drive way across the street. That's what makes Ruffner the best street in town!"

"I came home to find my neighbor Scott had done the front and side walks! Wow, your the best Scott!" Lianne Mathie commented.

Do you have a special neighbor or two you'd like to recognize for making your sliver of the Birmingham area great? Tell us in the comments and we'll try and tell their story.
