Are Your Holiday Lights Up? Birmingham's Are

Shain Park and much of downtown will now be lit up in preparation for the holiday season.

It's nearly mid-November and though it might not yet feel like the holiday season, there are lots of signs that it's approaching fast.

Some city workers in Birmingham, for example, spent the majority of the day on Monday hanging and installing the official holiday lights throughout Shain Park and the rest of downtown.

Though the weather hasn't really turned wintry until now, and we're barely a week removed from a general election, city officials said the installation is right on target, and on schedule with previous years.

The lights are part of the build-up toward the city's annual Menorah lighting and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies in Nov. 26 and 27, respectively.

Want to be part of the festivities? There's still time to enter the Birmingham Principal Shopping District's contest to win a night with Santa at the Townsend.
