Here's what to keep in mind about Birmingham this week.


It's Monday, and the new week of events in and around Birmingham is upon us. Here's some of the highlights:

Chamber Golf Outing

The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will host its annual golf outing today at Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield. Highlights will include the giving away of a two-year lease on a on a 2013 Chevy Camero SS convertible in one of two hole-in-one contests. The lease is courtesy of Mike Savoie Chevrolet and Gary Andrus of Adams Square Shopping Center.

Griffin Claw Opening
Birmingham's latest restaurant and addition to the Rail District officially opens to the public for regular hours on Thursday. Here's what some people had to say following multiple 'soft' opening events last week.

Baseball Event at Baldwin
Meet Kerrie Ferrell, author of “Rick Ferrell, Knuckleball Catcher,” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 18 at the Baldwin Public Library. The presentation includes historical baseball photos from the career of Rick Ferrell, who caught all nine innings of the first MLB All-Star Game in 1933. Ferrell went on to have a 43-year career (1950-92) as a Detroit Tigers coach, scout, and front office executive that helped assemble both the 1968 and 1984 World Series championship teams. He is also a member of theNational Baseball Hall of Fame.

Business Golf Classic event at Lincoln Hills Golf Course
The second annual four-person scramble with Birmingham's most important business leaders takes on a Hawaiin Luau theme with a pig roast and all this Friday at 1 p.m. Contact Jacky Brito at 248-417-7774 or jbrito@bhamgov.org. for more information. 
 
Village Players Presents "Disney's The Little Mermaid"
This performance is adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production, the Little Mermaid Jr., and features the hit songs "Part of Your World," "She’s in Love," and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea." Check the listing in our Events Calendar for showtimes.
