 When she accidentally crosses paths with struggling Hollywood screen-wri
 ter Joe Gillis in dramatic circumstances\, Norma sees in him an opportun
 ity to make her comeback to the big screen. Their subsequent passionate 
 and volatile relationship leads to an unforeseen and tragic conclusion.
