Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls: Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth. The circus is roaring on to the stage at Groves High School in the Tony Award-winning musical, Barnum. The Groves production combines the excitement of the circus with the entertainment of musical theatre.  The show is one of the most spectacular undertaken to date by the notable Groves Performing Arts Company. It features more than 75 cast members singing and dancing as clowns, trapeze artists, jugglers, and unicyclists, as well as the entire Groves High School marching band, and even a dancing dog.

The story, told through vignettes, follows the trials and tribulations of one of America’s great conmen, P.T. Barnum. Groves senior Nathan Willey is thrilled to play the title role. “Playing Barnum is a true gift for me”, says Willey. “He is such a fun character. As he says himself, he wants to ‘splash out color for the world to see.’” In addition to the title character, it also features the real-life personalities of Swedish opera singer, Jenny Lind; smallest man in the world, General Tom Thumb; and oldest women in the world, Joice Heth

Although this show may be less familiar than the current popular musicals, Rutherford feels the community will appreciate its liveliness, its creativity and its heart.

So step right up and run away to Groves to join the cast, pit orchestra and crew of the Groves Performing Arts Company for this dazzling theatrical extravaganza!

The Groves Performing Arts Company will present Barnum on November 3, 9 and 10 at 7:00 p.m. and on November 4 and 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the Groves’ auditorium, 20500 W. 13 Mile Road, Beverly Hills.
