Led by Reverend Dr. J. Wesley Babian, the First Baptist Church is located in the heart of downtown Birmingham and is noted by its disctintive Gothic architecture. Though the current building was built in 1929, the First Baptist Church has its roots in its current location and has been serving the community for more than 100 years. The church features the Hanson Children's Center, with space available for children's worship and performances as well as a library that houses more than 3,000 books. Worship traditionally begins at 10:30 pn Sunday mornings, with young and adult learning programs held immediately afterward. The church also offers a children's music program, vacation Bible school and a Chancel and Bell Choir.
